My Professional Experience and Therapeutic Approach

Hi, I'm Austin and I'm the Principal Organisational Psychologist here at Reimagine Psychology Melbourne. I have over 10 years of experience working closely with clients across a number of mental health care, consulting, and coaching settings - from clients in health care, aged care, universities, and to senior leaders across most of Australia's largest industries.

Through my lived experiences, I've learnt to really appreciate that we're all human at the end of the day and I strongly, strongly, believe that everybody deserves to be heard and know that they are not alone. I recognise that it takes real strength to seek support and I will always aim to create a safe, collaborative, and empowering environment as we work together towards your goals.

I bring a supportive, empathetic, and pragmatic approach to our sessions together and I blend core strategies from Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solutions Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and other evidence-based approaches.  I'll always work with you and provide you with a few different options that work best for you.

My Background and Beliefs

Through my lived experiences, I've learnt to really appreciate that we're all human at the end of the day and that everybody deserves to be heard, feel safe to pursue what is right for them, and to know that they are not alone.

I have worked as a senior leader in professional consulting and can personally relate to the challenges of stress, anxiety, burnout, and feeling ‘lost’ in life. I have coached and worked closely with leaders across most of Australia's largest industries and can bring this experience to connect in our sessions.

I also have lived experience with ADHD, chronic pain, and burnout, and I can really appreciate the struggle of feeling 'different' but told to act 'normal'. I recognise that everybody's 'normal' is a unique experience and I will always aim to create a safe and empowering space as we work together towards your goals.  I have a particular interest in helping people lead richer and more fulfilling lives by realising their goals and potential.

I have been actively involved in a number of not-for-profits which promote diversity and inclusion in the community, including co-founder and board member roles with AAOP (Asian Australian Organisational Psychology), Treasurer for the Victorian College of Organisational Psychologists (COP), and facilitator for the Resilience Against Racism project (RAR). I'm also an endorsed Organisational Psychologist supervisor and help supervise the next generation of Organisational Psychologsts in Australia.
